Ms. Latosha Christmas, (BSW '14; MSW '16) won Social Worker of the Year award for the Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services (MDCPS) West region of the state. Ms. Regina Lacking, (MSW '15) said "Ms. Christmas has been with the agency for 8 months; that says a lot." The award was presented with the Governor Phil Bryant. Lacking went on to say "I am so proud of her. She represents me and the agency with professionalism and grace. I can go on and on about her. She is a leader, and will go far." In addition to Christmas' award, Governor Phil Bryant honored two other SSW alums, Ms. Melody Vaughn, (BSW '08; MSW '15) and Ms. Tausha Rawls, (BSW '16). Vaughn and Rawls are credited with saving the life a Madison County child whose parents have been charged in what authorities said is one of the worst cases of child abuse they had ever seen. Congratulations on a job well done! (Pictured below: Chirstmas, Lacking and Gov. Bryant; Vaughn in the middle photo; and Rawls).
