Nathan A. Towery (Ph.D., The University of Alabama) is an Assistant Professor of Sports Media in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies. His research interests include identification, the strategic communication of sport, and the motivations for sport fanship and fandom. He teaches a variety of courses within the department, some of which include; Research Methods, Practicum, Media Literacy, Introduction to IMC, Sport Media, Sport Culture, as well as the department’s Capstone course. He is a founding advisor for the JSU eSports club. He is also a member of the International Communication Association (ICA), National Communication Association (NCA), Mississippi Communication Association (MCA), Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), as well as the Broadcast Education Association (BEA).
