Li-jing Arthur Chang, Ph. D.

Li-Ling Chang_144x200Dr. Li-jing Arthur Chang received his Ph.D. in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and his Ph.D. in CDS&E (Data Science) from Jackson State University. Dr. Chang has taught a variety of courses in mass communication such as research methods in mass communication, seminar in mass communication, advanced news reporting, news reporting and writing, public relations practice, and seminar in urban affairs reporting. As the graduate program director since 2017, he has advised graduate students and supervised theses and research projects. Dr. Chang’s research focuses on journalism and data science, including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers. With a background in journalism and data science, Dr. Chang has a passion for applying machine learning and artificial intelligence to advance journalism and liberal arts research. His publications received citations and downloads from around the world. His research interests include cultural comparison between East and West, news classification, sentiment analysis, machine learning, and generative artificial intelligence (such as ChatGPT). Dr. Chang is a member of the World Social Science Association (WSSA).
