Ms. Cassandra Hawkins-Wilson, a doctoral student in the Public Policy and Administration Program, and Instructor of English at Jackson State University, has been appointed Vice President for the Mississippi Association of Developmental Education (MADE).  Hawkins-Wilson will serve during the annual MADE conference on November 6 – 7, 2014.  In 2015, Hawkins-Wilson will serve as President.  Hawkins-Wilson’s research interests include developmental education, technology-centered curricula, and student engagement.  Hawkins-Wilson has numerous publications, including iBooks, peer-reviewed journal articles, books, and other publications.  Her work has been presented at various regional and national conferences. Hawkins-Wilson serves on the executive board of the Urban League Greater Jackson Young Professionals and on the editorial review boards for the National Social Science Association and the Journal of Contemporary Issues in Higher Education.  She belongs to the National Council of Negro Women, American Association of University Women, National Social Science Association, Urban League Greater Jackson Young Professional, Mississippi Association of Developmental Education, American Society for Public Administration, and The Society for the Study of Southern Literature. She has a BS in Psychology with a minor in Political Science and a MA in English.
