The Jackson State University National Alumni Association (“JSUNAA”) is a tax exempt 501(C)3 corporation. The JSUNAA scholarship committee was established to support the educational activities of Jackson State University as a supplemental source of scholarship funding. The objective of this committee is to encourage alumni, the business community and friends to assist students with financial aid in entering and advancing their educational efforts at Jackson State University.
The JSUNAA was established to provide financial assistance to students attending Jackson State University an accredited university in pursuing an Undergraduate or Advanced Degree in various disciplines offered at the University. Scholarships will be awarded based on availability of capital in the scholarship fund and the applicant qualifications. The amount of scholarships awarded will be based on availability of funds.
Award Criteria:
Minimum GPA: 2.5
Major course work – Various disciplines offered by Jackson State University
Acceptance letter from Jackson State University or registration invoice
Reference Letter – All applicants are required to provide a letter of reference from a teacher or school official, community representative or current/previous employer. This letter should expound on the applicant’s demonstrated ability in academics, extracurricular activities, character and leadership (on letterhead, one page maximum).
Candidate must submit a 500-word essay on one of the following:
-Why I decided to attend Jackson State University
-The Advantages/Benefits of Attending a Historically Black Institution
-How will an education from Jackson State University prepare me for life and my career goals
Essay: Candidates will be judged on subject knowledge, grammar and written communications skills.
