Students and faculty members of the Public Policy and Administration attended the annual conference of the National Conference of Minority Public Administrators (COMPA), held in Philadelphia, from Feb. 18 to Feb. 20, 2015.The JSU attendees served as panel members and gave presentations during the conference (Picture shown from the left to the right: Professor Sylvester Murray, Professor Frances Liddell, Ms. Alla Frank, Ms. Tina Collier, Mr. Aden Brown, Professor Ester Stokes, Professor Gloria Billingsley, Ms. Angeline Walton, Mr. Antron McKay-West and Mr. Michael Bolden). Further our faculty members were recognized for their contributions to the COMPA conference. Especially professor Billingsley will serve the President of the organization for the coming term, and the conference will be held in Jackson, MS next year.

JSU Students participated in the Annual Student Public Policy debate on mixed teams with students from other participating universities. Antron McKay-West, a masters student in our program, was on the winning team and won a trophy for his participation. He also represented JSU on the Young Scholars Panel, discussing issues in marginalized communities. Jackson State University College of Public Service and the Department of Public Policy and Administration were the Silver Level Sponsors. Finally, the Department received a plaque for bringing the most students to the conference.
