Chief Communications Officer and Executive Director of University Communications
Tangelia Kelly, Ph.D., serves as Chief Communications Officer and Executive Director of the award-winning Division of University Communications, which includes creative services, digital media, marketing and public relations.
Dr. Kelly, an alumna and seasoned professional with over 16 years of experience in higher education marketing, previously served as the Director of Marketing in University Communications. Her leadership has led to numerous awards and successful marketing initiatives that have significantly enhanced the university’s public profile and digital presence.
A native of Brandon, Mississippi, Dr. Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Jackson State University and a Master of Business Administration from Belhaven University. She earned her Ph.D. in educational administration and supervision with a concentration in higher education from Jackson State University. She was named to the Delta Business Journal’s 2023 Top Young Professionals, a finalist for the American Marketing Association’s Emerging Marketer in Higher Education Award and a part of the Higher Education Leadership Foundation (H.E.L.F.) Omicron Cohort.
She is a member of several distinguished organizations, including the Leadership Greater Jackson Board of Directors, Junior League of Jackson, American Marketing Association, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., College Public Relations Association of Mississippi and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
