Public Health Informatics and Technology at Jackson State University looks to help create and expand on a diverse public health workforce, particularly underrepresented minorities, across multiple disciplines.
PHIT at Jackson State University is an innovative approach into integrating multiple disciplines. It is the only program that can benefit students in The Colleges of Business, Education and Human Development, Health Sciences, Liberal Arts, and STEM. The internships we will offer will give our students real-time training in their field of choice. It will give them the skillset to analyze raw data that can then help to optimize the overall productivity of any business or system.
PHIT looks to produce 40 certificates and 120 degree conferrals in Data Science and Public Health Informatics in four (4) years. This will produce a prepared and qualified workforce, while increasing career placement and progression for our graduates. We look to arm students with the skills and training to excel in an ever-evolving digital world while aspiring to improve the quality and productivity of public health and reducing costs for persons in impoverished areas. We want to inspire students in a competitive environment that makes them attractive to the growing demand for data science professionals at hospitals, government agencies, research institutions, and software companies.
