Biography

She received a Master of Arts in Public History from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Arts in History, Magna cum Laude, from Alcorn State University. She received additional training from the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, D.C. at the Modern Archives Institute. She also served as a summer intern at the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution.

She served as interim project manager for the Mississippi Department of Archives and History’s Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. She has co-written articles on Margaret Walker for the Southern Register and the Mississippi Reading Journal.

She serves as vice-president of Women for Progress and helps plan the organization’s annual Kwanzaa celebration. She is also the founder/facilitator for SANKOFA Reading Group, an auxiliary of Women for Progress. She also hosts a monthly podcast, History Matters for the Women for Progress Radio Network.
