Dear Campus Community,

Jackson State University is preparing to welcome students and colleagues back to campus in August for the start of the fall semester. Orientation sessions have already begun, and we look forward to our incoming freshmen class of 2025.

While we are ramping up for in-person classes, we are currently finalizing the Fall 2021 COVID-19 policy. Our policy is contingent upon recommendations from the Mississippi State Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control best practices. We anticipate the release of recommendations in the near future.

As you know, temperature checks and the use of the SAFR App to enter campus were discontinued on Monday, July 12, 2021. The Lynch Street gatehouse, Student Center gate, and the Dalton Street gate have been reopened for campus access. That aside, Jackson State University remains under the Spring 2021 COVID-19 guidelines as follows:

Masks must be worn both indoors and outdoors regardless of vaccination status.

Social distancing must be maintained in areas with 10 or more persons.

Cleaning: Disinfectants, hand sanitizer, and other supplies are available across campus. Please continue to share the responsibility of disinfecting public surfaces.

Screening: Temperature check-in stations are located throughout the campus. We strongly encourage you to continue temperature screenings as necessary.

Testing: The campus has the capacity to conduct testing for employees and students who are symptomatic and/or have been exposed to someone known to have the virus. Testing can be done on-site in the Student Health Center or through one of our community partners.

Jackson Hinds Comprehensive Health offers vaccinations every Tuesday on our main campus. Please continue to monitor your email for details regarding time and location. We strongly encourage that everyone receives the vaccination. Unvaccinated persons remain at risk of a severe case of COVID-19.
