Class of 2021 Undergraduate Commencement May 8th
Date:  May 8, 2021
Location:  Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium
Time:  9am

  • Graduates will be seated in physically distanced seats and will be invited to walk across the stage while their names are called.
  • Graduates will be instructed to arrive at the venue at staggered times to minimize the number of individuals arriving at the same time.
  • To minimize contact with others, graduates will not shake hands.  Photos will be taken, but social distancing will be maintained.
  • Also, to minimize contact, graduates will not be hooded as part of the ceremonies. Instead, graduate hoods/stoles, honor cords, etc. will be distributed in advance so graduates can wear them during the ceremonies.
  • To minimize contact among guests, there will not be a printed commencement program.
  • There will be a minimal platform party and minimal attendance by JSU faculty to reduce the density of people at the ceremonies. Consequently, there will be no faculty or student processions at any of the ceremonies. Only marshals will process. Upon arrival to the venue, students will be directed to their designated seats.
  • The commencement will be supported by professional event staff who will direct participants to appropriate seating, facilitate physical distancing and ensure appropriate use of masks.

All ceremonies will be live-streamed. A link to video access will be available via the JSU Website prior to the ceremony.  It will also be broadcasted on Facebook as well as the JSUTv page.
