Submission and Selection Criteria:
- Completion of the Online Application, which will request information on the academic lead (STEM faculty), Entrepreneurial Lead (student) from a NSF supported discipline, and a Mentor. Submit the completed application by the designated submission deadline.
- Completion of a 1-page executive summary of the proposed research and potential for commercialization. As well as a statement indicating the work plan for the 3-month period and a description of how the funds will be used to explore their research/innovation.
- Readiness for I-Corps Training: Is the proposed research project, product, process, or idea at an appropriate level of development to benefit from this I-Corps style training?
- Feasibility of the Proposed Topic: Is the scope of the project appropriate for the time frame and budget allocated for the teams?
- Diversity of the Team: Does the team include members from groups that are typically underrepresented in STEM disciplines?
Team Completes 5-week Program:
- I-Corps/ Lean Startup Methodology
- Technology Transfer and Commercialization
- Funding Sources/Assistance – NSF I-Corps Program, Technology Transfer, Licensing and Commercialization Unit, SBIR/STTR, and support from the SBDC
Team makes a go/no-go decision on pursuing commercialization.
