Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Industrial Systems & Technology
College of Science, Engineering, and Technology
The Industrial Technology Program prepares students for supervisory and management positions in the production, automation, maintenance or logistics areas of industry.
The Jackson State University Industrial Technology Program deals not only with things but also with people, finance, information and the environment. Industrial Technology answers complex questions: How can we improve safety, quality, productivity and service? What products or services should we offer? What price should we charge? What materials and methods should we use? How can we best motivate and reward people? How much inventory do we need? Where should we locate our plants, stores and warehouse?
Quality of Education
Students receive an excellent background in the practical use of both manual and automated machinery and associated tools, as well as knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes, materials, design, human relations and logistics, with an emphasis towards hands-on laboratory experiences.
Industry Readiness
Successful graduates gain knowledge, skills, and abilities in solving technical problems, understanding the design process, excelling in authentic leadership, being aware of safety issues, having a quality orientation, effectively managing projects, and having a systems-thinking perspective. This translates to a holistic approach that uses science and engineering principles to focus on the way the constituent parts of a manufacturing system interrelate, how they work over time, and how they fit the context of larger systems.
