The computer technology option is designed to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in computer and information technologies. Courses included in this option provide experiences in computer components, networking systems, networking installation and troubleshooting, and in operating systems software packages. Graduates of this option typically work as process/product analysts, application analysts, networkers, programmers, or managers of computer operations. Upon the completion of the computer technology option, students will be able to:
- Be familiar with hardware/software functions and troubleshooting.
- Design, implement, and administer a computer network system.
- Demonstrate safe and appropriate use of computer technology employed in the work environment.
- Use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing practice.
- Design, implement, and evaluate a computer-based system, process, or component to meet desired needs.
- Apply modern management techniques to the execution of a project from start to finish.
- Communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
