The Assignment Process

Jackson State University Housing & Residence Life offers students the opportunity to live in a vibrant and supportive on-campus community right here in the heart of Jackson, Mississippi. Our housing options range from traditional residence halls to apartment-style living, providing a variety of choices to fit your needs. Living on campus at JSU is more than just a place to stay—it’s an opportunity to engage in an enriching residential experience and build lasting connections with fellow Tigers.

When processing assignments, we consider various factors, including the completion date of applications, space availability, room configurations, and preference requests. While we strive to accommodate as many requests as possible, we encourage students to submit applications early, as preferences are not guaranteed.

Housing assignments are completed on a continuous basis throughout each semester. Students are able to view their assignments by logging into the Starrez portal. As cancellations and room changes are completed, additional spaces may become available and are constantly being evaluated for occupancy.

Assignments are made based on the completion date of both the application AND Payment. Applications will not be processed without Payment.

• At the discretion of University Housing Administration, a room change day may be set. Please follow our Social Media accounts and monitor your JSU email for this information.
• Roster Verification, occupancy status and enrollment verification is monitored throughout each semester.
