Our mission is to provide high level performance and expertise in the design and construction of campus facilities. Planning and Construction is responsible for ensuring all aspects of each project is in compliance with programs, budgets, schedules, and codes. We manage the process on both capital and campus projects.
Our Unit
The Planning and Construction team is made up of professionals with expertise in the areas listed below:

This unit oversees and manages the following subunits and areas:
- Building Services (Carpentry, Moving, Painting)
- This sub-unit is responsible for general building maintenance such as painting, window and door repair, furniture repair, ceiling tile replacement, drywall and masonry repairs to academic and administrative buildings. Building Services also performs minor renovations to campus offices and classrooms. Some of our services include building bookcases and shelves, concrete work, and sidewalks. Capital Improvement
Construction projects managed through this unit may either be deemed a capital or campus project, based on the following criteria.
Capital Projects: These projects help preserve or improve a University asset or infrastructure. Capital projects typically consist of new construction, expansion, renovation, or the replacement of an existing facility. Project costs may include contract services needed to complete the project, the cost of land, engineering, and architectural planning. Approval from the University President, IHL, and State Legislators is required.

- SRAPPA is one of six regional organizations dedicated to the operation of buildings on campuses of higher education, museums, K-12, community colleges, state parks, city and county governmental bodies. SRAPPA consists of members from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Mexican states of Campeche, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, and Yucatan.
