Mr. Larry Ross has been a wonderful FCM team member and possesses a wealth of knowledge. Our student worker, Earsley Quinn, sat down with Ross for an interview and recorded Ross' final reflections of his time at JSU.
Q: How many years have you worked for JSU/FCM?
A: I have been with Facilities and Construction Management for 22 years.
Q: What is your fondest memory during your time at JSU?
A: My best memories are always after I’ve been given a work task and I gave it my best. When my job is complete, I evaluate myself and then when I gaze at the final result, it makes me feel great to know that I am able to contribute to the university with my skill and talent.
Q: How do you plan on spending your retirement?
A: I plan on dedicating my time to my ministry. I am a pastor in the city of Vicksburg at the Jubilee Church of God in Christ. I hope to do more outreach in the community. During my leisure time, may do some craftsmanship and carpentry work. I’ll definitely do some fishing, and I plan to spend more time with family.
Q: What legacy do you hope to leave on the people you have encountered at JSU?
A: When I take interest in something I always give it my best. I want people to see that when a man gives his best, it pays off! I want to be known as one of the best craftsmen that ever came through JSU and I hope my work speaks for me.
Q: What do you hope to see in the future at JSU?
A: I hope to see JSU become one of the top, if not the best university; not just in Mississippi, but in the world.
Q: As you reflect on your time at JSU, what would you consider the greatest lesson you have learned?
A: I have learned how to work with others, both with the administration and my co-workers. My desire is that JSU is that family they profess to be; that we will really be one JSU not just in words, but in love and deeds.
A retirement party was held for Mr. Ross on Friday, February 12th. View the photo gallery below.
