MARC/U*STAR Program

The Minority Access to Research Careers/Undergraduate*Student Training in Academic Research (MARC/U*STAR) Program is now accepting applications for positions that will become available June 1, 2014.  MARC Scholars are selected on the basis of their academic record (GPA of 3.2 or above), from among second year honors students who are Biology, Chemistry and Psychology majors with an expressed interest in pursuing a Ph.D. degree in the biomedical sciences or related fields.  The program will pay a twelve (12) month stipend of $969 per month and partial tuition for the Fall and Spring semesters.  The prospective scholar must submit an application, current transcript, and three letters of recommendation in order to be considered for the program.  The letters of recommendation must be written by faculty who has taught the applicant while attending an institution of higher learning in the areas of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology.  The application, transcript, and three letters of recommendation will be reviewed by the MARC Advisory Committee.  The committee selects finalist and invites them to be interviewed.  The scholars are selected from among those finalists.
