Why is my mail arriving late?

Our mail goes to the Westland Post Office or the main Post Office downtown before it reaches our campus. “Is the mail properly addressed with your correct box number and zip code?”

 

Why does mail going to foreign countries take so long to reach its destination?

Foreign mail sometimes gets held up in customs based on that particular country’s regulations.

 

What time is mail delivered?

Mail is delivered to mailboxes between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. , Monday through Friday.

 

How long does it take for mail to reach Jackson State or its destination?

All in-state mail takes 1-2 days, out of state mail takes 3-5 days, and foreign mail takes 5-10 days.

 

What is the cost of various special services (e.g. Delivery Confirmation, Priority Mail, Express Mail)?

Depending on which services are rendered: Delivery Confirmation is $0.75 Priority, $0.85 First and Parcel Post, plus postage of item, Priority Mail is $5.15 for Flat Rate and Express Mail is $18.95 (amount increases with weight).

 

When will we receive our work study/refund checks?

Financial Services determines the disbursement date and time. The checks are delivered to Postal Services then distributed to the mailboxes the same day.

 

What is the price of a student mailbox?

Box rental fees are $38.00 per academic session.

 

Why is my mailbox closed?

Mailboxes are closed for students who do not reserve their mailbox during the Spring semester.

 

How long does it take for mail to be forwarded?

Mail is forwarded daily. It usually takes 3-5 days for forwarded mail to reach its destination.
