2019 JSU Army ROTC Hall of Fame Inductee
Lieutenant Colonel Holden is a retired commissioned officer of the United States Army with more than twenty years of active military service. He has served in a variety of command, leadership, and managerial positions as an Armor officer, including two combat tours during Operation Desert Storm as a part of the liberation of Kuwait. He served as primary advisor on nuclear proliferation to various secretaries of the United States government, up to and including the President of the United States.
During his career, Lieutenant Colonel Holden spent the majority of his time at the unit level in positions of command. Lieutenant Colonel Holden currently serves as the Treasurer of the Jackson State University ROTC Alumni Program (JRAP) fund. He is responsible for accountability and management of donations from former graduates and provides funds for special activities for the ROTC program such as receptions, ROTC Cadet Dining In, Spring Gala, Top Male and Female Awards, scholarships, the JSU ROTC Picnic, and numerous other activities.
Lieutenant Colonel Holden has served as the Chief Executive Officer of South Rankin County Farmers Association (SRCFA) since its inception. This organization is a non-profit designed to help disadvantaged farmers in the operation and management of their farms and to assist them in applying for loans and grants which are designed to bring them into the 21st century. This organization has well over thirty members in its cooperative and to date, SRCFA has purchased and paid for 25 acres of farmland, have over 20 heads of cattle which are used to support its operations. SRCFA is the only cooperative in the state of Mississippi that has three men and two women who have been selected as Small Farmer of the Year because of their outstanding management skills and knowledge.
